The population of the EU is aging rapidly. In many sectors, securing the supply of skilled labor will therefore be a major challenge for companies. Consequently, the number of workers who will leave the labor market in the next few years will be significantly higher than the number of new workers.

There is ample evidence that seniors over 50 who continue to work remain socially active and healthy. In addition, seniors over 50 have a lot of experience, know-how and can contribute to the success of their employers.

Seniors over 50 are encouraged to expand their activity but at the same time they are caught in situations of impossible career management by employers, both for maintaining employment and for hiring. They are more exposed to long-term unemployment and those aged 60 to 64 have a low rate of participation in economic development.

Studies and surveys have shown that those aged 65 and over or “retired” are ready to work or be consulted part-time, which could clearly fill the “gap” in the supply of qualified labour.

Other research referring to the assessment of entrepreneurship roles suggests that self-employment in seniors boosts their self-esteem and motivates them to take on new tasks and perform well at those tasks.

In summary, there are many advantages to training seniors while facilitating entrepreneurship.

About

Everywhere in Europe, the population is aging with an enormous intellectual capacity, an enormous experience in various fields of activity but which is confronted with a harassing management of the end of career which does not promote the employability of seniors. We firmly believe that it is time to bring educational resources and tools to seniors so that they can face this digital transition and be able to undertake.

Objective

Through the SENEXIA project, we wanted to fight against age discrimination by developing educational and innovative solutions to promote “access to training” for the employment of seniors and entrepreneurship.

Specific Objectives

Through the SENEXIA project we aspire to:

Act against the illiteracy of seniors and improve the use of digital tools to make this population more autonomous

Help seniors overcome obstacles in accessing opportunities

Tackle the potential source of age discrimination
